Interhouse started with a simple question - what if there was a better way to provide legal services to growing businesses, one that could combine the most effective parts of traditional law firms and in-house legal departments?
The answer? A business model centred on connecting growing businesses with a network of experienced fractional in-house lawyers, while each operating through their own independent practice, all led by a seasoned fractional general counsel, Mark K. Leung.

Lead Counsel
Mark K. Leung*
Founder, CEO, Lawyer
Mark is a former General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer, and a seasoned corporate commercial lawyer with over 12 years of experience. In that time, Mark has built and led Legal and Compliance departments, grown and scaled Legal and Sales operations, and helped launch mobile games and SaaS platforms. Prior to working as an in-house lawyer, Mark was a litigation associate at one of Canada's largest national law firms.
Outside of work, Mark is an Adjunct Professor at UBC's Sauder School of Business, and also volunteers for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (British Columbia) Society (FACL BC), where he serves as the Chair of the In-House Committee and an instructor for the Leadership Academy. Mark also previously served on FACL BC's Board of Directors and Advisory Committee.
When Mark is not working or teaching, he is either spending time with his amazing wife, chasing after his two young boys, or hiding somewhere in his house, reading a comic book.

Sukhi Ram*
Fractional General Counsel, Privacy and Security
Sukhi is a former General Counsel, Director of Trust & Compliance, and Privacy Officer for a publicly listed company (TSX). With over 13 years of legal experience in leadership roles at multinational organizations in hyper-growth industries, she is licensed to practice in England & Wales, Canada (BC), and soon California. Sukhi has extensive expertise in developing and implementing privacy and security programs compliant with regulations such as GDPR, PIPEDA, Law 25, CASL, HIPAA, and CPRA.
Before her legal career, Sukhi founded a marketing and management company, equipping her with a business-oriented approach to legal issues. This background helps her guide companies through complex regulatory landscapes offering pragmatic solutions.
In 2018, Sukhi relocated her family from London, England, back to her hometown of Vancouver. She now enjoys exploring the beauty of the West Coast with her husband, two sons and new fur-baby. If she is not on the soccer pitch, you can find Sukhi in her garden enjoying a cup of tea and a good book.

Sonia Khan*
Fractional Legal Counsel
Sonia began her legal career at a regional firm in downtown Vancouver, focusing on corporate-commercial matters and advising clients on a range of legal issues. Before pursuing law, Sonia worked as a Research Assistant at the UBC Sauder School of Business.
Outside of her legal practice, Sonia serves as the Secretary and Board Member of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association - BC Chapter.
In her downtime, Sonia enjoys quality time with her family, catching up on the latest movies, and indulging in her love of true crime podcasts.

Flora Wu*
Fractional Commercial Litigation Counsel
Since being called to the bar in 2021, Flora has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia. With her trial and appellate experience, Flora provides clients the big picture perspective on how their dispute might unfold and how to best achieve their litigation goals.

Roger Zhang
Fractional Labour and Employment Counsel
Roger is a dual-licensed lawyer in British Columbia and Alberta, focusing on employment and labour law, human rights, workplace privacy, and related litigation. He advises and represents both employees and employers on a broad range of workplace matters, including wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, workplace bullying and harassment, human rights complaints, and privacy issues. Roger also acts as fractional employment and workplace counsel to businesses, providing ongoing, practical legal support on day-to-day employment, human resources, compliance, and workplace matters.
Roger previously worked as an associate at one of Canada's largest national employment litigation firms and at a global law firm, where he gained experience in a wide spectrum of workplace issues and complex litigation. He is fluent in Mandarin and is able to provide legal services in both English and Mandarin.
Outside the office, Roger is an avid chess player and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Denea Bascombe
Fractional Legal Counsel
Denea is a dual-licensed lawyer in British Columbia and New South Wales, Australia. After working with leading community legal organizations in Australia, she returned to her hometown of Vancouver, where she now runs a practice supporting individuals, professionals, and small businesses.
Denea’s practice focuses on practical, relationship-based legal support for clients who need clear advice without unnecessary complexity. She assists with employment matters, human rights tribunal proceedings, civil disputes, and small business issues, including collections. Denea also works with business owners who need ongoing legal guidance as issues arise, helping them manage risk, respond to disputes, and make informed decisions.
Denea's approach is thoughtful, pragmatic, and grounded in helping clients move forward with confidence.
When she is not working, Denea serves as an Executive Assistant to her dog, Sydney.

Mariela Gutierrez
Fractional Legal Counsel
Mariela is a corporate commercial lawyer who began her career in-house in healthcare, giving her a close look at how legal and regulatory issues intersect in business. Today, Mariela focuses on providing founders with practical guidance to move their business forward. In particular, she assists businesses with contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory compliance, and commercial leasing negotiations, with particular depth in healthcare, wellness, and fitness businesses.
Mariela is experienced in supporting scaling businesses as a trusted advisor. She helps them manage risk, protect their revenue, and make informed decisions at each stage.
When she is not working, you'll find Mariela at a park with her dog or baking.
Steven Ngo
Fractional General Counsel, AI and Technology
Steven is an highly accomplished corporate, commercial, and technology lawyer. He previously served on the senior leadership team at Rivian Automotive Canada, where he led the company’s Canadian legal function and supported the company’s expansion into Canada. He has built deep expertise in technology transactions as the key legal advisor for Rivian’s software and AI & teams. Before Rivian, he practiced at leading law firms in Canada and Asia, with experience spanning artificial intelligence, e-commerce, renewable energy, influencer marketing, public policy/government relations, private equity, and corporate M&A.
Steven has been named one of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers and NAPABA's Best Under 40, and was awarded the Medal of Good Citizenship, one of British Columbia's highest honours for public service. Alongside this work, Steven is an adjunct professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law (UBC), where he teaches business law. Steven is also the Founder & CEO of Beyond the A, a platform dedicated to helping law students and lawyers land their dream jobs.
Outside of law, Steven hosts the top-ranked podcast, 2 Dads 1 Car, which explores modern fatherhood and the unspoken truths of parenting.

Evan Paulse
Fractional Legal Counsel
Evan Paulse has a legal practice which focuses on employment, commercial litigation, and corporate and commercial matters. He advises businesses and individuals on a range of legal issues arising in the course of their operations, including employment relationships, contractual matters, commercial disputes, and general tax-related issues. Evan's approach is practical and solutions-oriented, with an emphasis on understanding the client's objectives and providing clear advice that can be acted upon.
